NFL Stadiums: Women Can’t Bring Purses to Games

Bring the Tickets, Leave the Purse

nfl_logosIn an attempt to reduce security threats at ALL NFL Games, women and men can no longer bring bags into the stadiums.
This league-wide mandate states that women will not be allowed to bring in anything larger than a personal clutch.
All pocketbooks, purses, fanny packs, etc must be left in your vehicles or home, BUT for those now knowing the attendance rules, the purses can also be checked in at security for pick up after the game.
The NFL will allow see-through small purses to be brought in.

Rutgers Football Introduces 2 New Seating Areas

Rutgers football will be adding two new hospitality areas to go along with The Block R Party presented by Miller Lite for the 2013 football season, the school announced today.

The two new hospitality areas are the Recruiting Terrace, which is located the middle of the student section in the south end zone, and the Party Deck, which will be adjacent to the press box with an elevated sideline view on the stadium’s west side. The Block R Party will once again be on Athlete’s Glen.

The Recruiting Terrance is for a group of 50 people at $125.00 a person. Along with a ticket to the game, the attendees will get:

·On-field access from 30 minutes before game until game time
·Catered food and soft drinks included until halftime
·A fully stocked cash bar, available when gates open until start of fourth quarter
·Area will include high-top tables, stools, sitting tables and chairs
·12 parking passes for the blue lot

The Party Group is for a group of 50 people at $125.00 a person. Along with a ticket to the game, the attendees will get:

·Catered food and soft drinks included starting from 30 minutes before the game until halftime
·A fully stocked cash bar, available when gates open until start of fourth quarter
·Covered area will include high-top tables, stools, sitting tables and chairs
·Flat screen TV’s
·12 parking passes for the blue lot

The Block R Party begins three hours before kickoff and ends 15 minutes before kickoff.
Here’s what it includes:

·Amenities open to the public include the R Bar & Grill, Kids Zone, live entertainment featuring band and DJ, and much more.
·Private tents for corporate functions or larger groups (40 guest minimum) are also available for the Block R Party, which features two food packages, the Scarlet Package ($99 per person) and the Knight Package ($65 per person).
·All packages include a tent (lighting and heating optional), upscale lounge furniture and a personal server.
·Discounted group tickets ($30 end zone, $40 upper side line; Arkansas game excluded) and parking passes (one pass located in blue lot per every four people) are available to those partaking in The Block R Party.

Storm Chasers Die in Tornado

tim-samaras-storm-chasers“Storm Chasers” star Tim Samaras, 55, his 24-year-old son, Paul, and a 45-year-old colleague were among those killed when powerful storms, including several tornadoes, tore through Oklahoma on Friday.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Tim Samaras, his son Paul and their colleague Carl Young,” the Discovery Channel said in a statement released Sunday. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families.”
The men died while chasing an F-3 tornado in El Reno, Okla., near Oklahoma City. At least nine people, including a mother and her baby were killed during Friday’s storms, officials said.
“Thank you to everyone for the condolences,” Tim Samaras’ brother, Jim, wrote on Tim’s Facebook wall. “It truly is sad that we lost my great brother Tim and his great son, Paul. Our hearts also go out to the Carl Young family as well as they are feeling the same feelings we are today. They all unfortunately passed away but doing what they loved.
“I look at it that he is in the ‘big tornado in the sky,'” Jim added.
The “Storm Chasers” series ended in November after five seasons on the Discovery Channel. The network said it would dedicate Sunday’s “Mile Wide Tornado: Oklahoma Disaster”—a primetime special on the deadly tornado that ripped through Moore, Okla., on May 20—to their memory.
“This has really shaken up everyone in the storm chasing community,” Doug Kiesling, a storm photographer, told CNN. “We knew this day would happen someday, but nobody would imagine that it would happen to Tim. Tim was one of the safest people to go out there.”

NEW YORK (AP) — Fox, facing the ebbing ratings power of “American Idol,” is betting big on its first miniseries showcase, starting with a limited-edition “24” and shows from heavyweight producers Seth MacFarlane and J.J. Abrams to invigorate its schedule.

The network is making its largest original-programming investment yet with a crop of 11 new series along with a miniseries from filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan for the 2013-14 season, Kevin Reilly, Fox Entertainment chairman, said Monday. That’s more than double the five series it announced last year.

Fox was the second of the major broadcast networks to announce its schedule for next season, following NBC’s unveiling Sunday of an even heftier load of 17 new series.

After changing the TV landscape with “American Idol,” Fox is jumping on the miniseries bandwagon that started rolling with the History channel’s hits “Hatfields & McCoys” and “The Bible.”

Although producers of “24” had contemplated bringing the canceled show back with a big-screen movie, they decided that Fox’s planned “event series” would be the right place for it, Reilly said.

The miniseries, “24: Live Another Day,” will clock in at half its running length and the 12 episodes will be chronological but will skip some hours, he said. It likely will kick off the event franchise in the summer.

The next announced miniseries is “Wayward Pines,” from Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”). Based on the best-selling novel “Pines,” it stars Matt Dillon in what Fox called a “mind-bending thriller” about the search for missing federal agents in an Idaho town. It will air in midseason.

Other broadcast network miniseries are reportedly in the works, following cable’s success with the genre that once was a TV mainstay but had gone dormant. Reilly said the miniseries will help Fox toward its goal of year-round programming

“American Idol” is staying put on Wednesday and Thursday nights when it returns for its 13th season next January. The same can’t be said for its judges: Original panelist Randy Jackson said he won’t be back, and speculation has newcomers Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban exiting as the aging series seeks a reboot.
