Simon Cowell is set to team up with Jada Pinkett-Smith on a new international TV show.
The music mogul took to twitter to announce he will be working with the Hollywood actress to go in search of the world’s greatest DJ, but he has ruled himself out of appearing on the as-yet untitled project, which has been in development for over a year.
He wrote: “Excited to announce new DJ show. I will NOT be judging this show. Excited to be working with @jadapsmith . Stay tuned! (sic).”
The show will be co-produced by Simon’s Syco Entertainment and Jada and her husband Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment company, as well as Sony Pictures Television.
Speaking in a statement, Simon added: “We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people. As soon as I met Jada and Miguel from Overbrook, I knew they would be our ideal partners. DJs are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show.”
Jada is equally as excited to be working with the 52-year-old ‘X Factor’ boss on the new reality program.
The 40-year-old star explained: “This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent. I am happy to be creating it alongside Simon Cowell, the Sony team, and my partner Miguel Melendez, on behalf of the Overbrook family.”
Andrea Wong, President of International Production for Sony Pictures Television, told Deadline: “We are thrilled to be working with Simon Cowell and our partners at Overbrook on what we know will be a tremendously successful global format.”
*Personally, with my experience in front of TV Cameras and a Live Audience of up to 100,000, I would hope that they take my application to be a judge seriously!
